Toasted sliced or slivered almonds

Directions
- DIRECTIONS: Toast the sliced or slivered almonds on a cookie sheet at 350-F for 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Increas oven temperature to 400-F.
- Melt the butter and add the flour.
- Add the milk gradually stirring with a wire whisk to make a thick smooth sauce.
- Add the sugar.
- Remove from the heat and add the egg yolks one at a time.
- Add the ground almonds and almond extract.
- Beat the egg whites, with a pinch of salt and the cream of tartar, until stiff.
- Fold the almond mixture into the egg whites.
- Spoon into a prepared 4 cup souffle dish.
- Place the souffle in the oven and immediately reduce the heat to 375-F.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Sprinkle the baked souffle with the toasted almonds.
- Serve with whipped cream.
